Baghaei Condemns US Strikes on Civilian Infrastructure, Says Diplomacy Continues Alongside Military Response

AVASH NEWS: Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Baghaei said the attacks had targeted civilian infrastructure, medical and healthcare facilities, bridges, and other installations essential to people’s livelihoods.
“No political or military objective can justify the suffering of a child waiting for medical treatment or the anguish of a family whose city’s bridge has been destroyed,” he said.
According to Baghaei, the strikes reflected what he described as Washington’s “destructive logic,” arguing that attacks on essential infrastructure go beyond military objectives and directly threaten human security.
“An attack on infrastructure is not simply an attack on physical facilities. It is an attack on people’s lives, security, and dignity,” he said.
The spokesman also paid tribute to the people living in Iran’s southern provinces, describing them as “the guardians of the Persian Gulf and the Makran coasts” and saying they deserve greater recognition for their resilience.
Referring to the US strike on an elementary school in the southern city of Minab, Hormozgan Province, Baghaei said the attack had been intentional and could not be justified under any circumstances.
“There is no doubt that the attack on Minab Elementary School was deliberate,” he said.
Baghaei added that the destruction of civilian infrastructure had imposed immense hardship on residents, particularly amid extreme summer temperatures.
He stressed that attacks on one region affect the entire country, saying Iran’s provinces are inseparably connected.
“Iran is one body. A wound inflicted on any part of the country is a wound suffered by the entire nation,” he said.
Addressing diplomatic efforts, Baghaei said Iran continues to pursue diplomacy while its Armed Forces respond to what he described as US aggression.
He confirmed that Tehran has received proposals from several mediators aimed at reducing tensions with Washington but declined to disclose details.
“Our diplomatic apparatus, in coordination with the Armed Forces, continues to fulfill its responsibilities. We have received proposals through mediators, but it is not appropriate to discuss them publicly at this stage,” he said.
Baghaei also criticized the recent US strike on the construction site of Iran’s Darkhoyen nuclear power plant, calling on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to issue an explicit condemnation.
He said the attack demonstrated Washington’s hostility toward Iran’s scientific and industrial development and warned that the UN nuclear watchdog’s silence would further undermine Tehran’s confidence in the agency.
“Iran expects the IAEA Director General to clearly condemn this attack. Silence and indifference will only further erode our trust in the agency,” Baghaei said.
