Arian Salimi wins gold medal

Avash: Salimi faced Uzbekistan’s Maulonov in the final of the +80kg weight category and secured the gold medal with a victory over his opponent.
This was the Uzbek fighter’s third consecutive defeat to Arian Salimi.
Salimi received a bye in the first round of the competition before defeating Tang Hao and Jordan’s Mohammad Ala to book his place in the final.
Therefore, Iran’s national taekwondo team concluded its campaign at the Games with two gold medals, one silver and one bronze. Saghar Moradi and Arian Salimi won the two gold medals, Mehdi Hajmousaei claimed silver, while Fatemeh Ahmadi secured a bronze medal for Iran.
Morteza Zendedel, Yasamin Limoochi, Abolfazl Zandi, Amirsina Bakhtiyari, Saina Karimi and Nahid Kiani were eliminated from the competition.
