Seyed Hossein Mousavian, former Iranian nuclear negotiator and diplomat, wrote on his X account regarding the Israeli attack on Iran:
- Israel’s military aggression against Iran began exactly one day after Trump’s two-month ultimatum to Iran regarding nuclear negotiations expired.
- This aggression constitutes a blatant violation of the UN Charter and all international norms and laws, and it cannot be remedied merely by condemnatory statements from UN member states.
- Israel coordinated its attack plan in advance with NATO leaders and launched the war against Iran with a green light from the United States and NATO. Therefore, NATO has assumed the role of defending Israel against Iran’s military response. In this war, NATO is directly or indirectly engaged with Iran.
- Since nuclear talks began with Iran in 2003, Israel has consistently sought to sabotage negotiations, destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, and drag the U.S. and NATO into war with Iran.
- At a 2011 seminar, a former head of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad told the then-Iranian ambassador to the IAEA: “Your main negotiating counterpart is Israel, not the P5+1 countries.” Israel’s success in derailing negotiations has undermined the credibility of the P5+1.
- Israel’s military assault is the largest military operation against Iran since World War II and Saddam Hussein’s invasion. Saddam was supported by NATO, the Eastern Bloc, and Arab states — but was ultimately defeated. In the current war, Eastern Bloc powers and Arab states are not aligned with Israel or NATO.
– The Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities is the attack of a nuclear-armed state on a non-nuclear-armed state. This exposes the failure of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), especially since the Israeli strike reveals the true motive and nature behind the IAEA’s recent illegal resolution against Iran.
- The attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities will undoubtedly influence Iran’s future nuclear strategy. In fact, NATO, Israel, and the IAEA have laid the groundwork for this strategic shift.
- Israel’s primary goal in this new hybrid war against Iran is regime change, the creation of instability and chaos, and even the disintegration of Iran. The outcome of this war will significantly impact the future balance of power in the Middle East.
- By giving the green light to Israel, the United States and NATO have made a grave strategic mistake. The result of this war will profoundly affect regional dynamics and the role of Eastern and Western powers in the Middle East.
