The UK Foreign Secretary warned that a war between Israel and Iran would mark “a moment of serious danger for the region,” emphasizing that “no military action can eliminate Iran’s capabilities.”

According to the Persian edition of ISNA, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, speaking before the House of Commons, told lawmakers that Israel has carried out significant strikes on Iranian targets — including military sites, nuclear facilities, key commanders, and nuclear scientists — but stated that no such attacks are capable of neutralizing or ending Iran’s overall capabilities.

Citing Anadolu Agency, Lammy stressed that while the UK is not involved in Israel’s military operations against Iran, it remains one of Israel’s primary allies. However, he warned again that no military effort would be sufficient to dismantle Iran’s capabilities.

“It should come as no surprise,” the foreign secretary said, “that Israel views Iran’s nuclear program as an existential threat.”

He went on to say: “Iran is a major oil producer, and a vast volume of global trade passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Any escalation poses a real risk to the global economy.”

David Lammy concluded by urging both parties to “step back, show restraint, and avoid sliding further into a catastrophic conflict whose consequences no one can control.”
