The U.S. Congress, comprising the House of Representatives and the Senate, will hold two classified briefings next week regarding the Israeli regime’s war against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the Persian edition of IRNA, CNN reported on Friday evening local time that members of the U.S. House of Representatives will receive a classified briefing on Iran’s situation next Tuesday.

CNN, citing an informed source, stated that House members will receive a classified report on Iran’s situation on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

The U.S. Senate will also hold a classified briefing, with senators receiving a confidential report on Iran’s situation next week.

To date, numerous senators, House members, experts, and American analysts have warned U.S. President Donald Trump against involving the United States in Israel’s war against Iran. Some senators have introduced legislation to prevent the U.S. president from taking military action against Iran without congressional authorization, though such bills typically take time to pass in both the House and Senate.

On Friday local time, U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters, reiterated his support for Israel, stating that given Israel’s military successes, such a request would be challenging, and claimed: “When you look at the situation, stopping it is very difficult. Israel is performing successfully militarily. I think it can be said that Iran has been less successful, and in such circumstances, convincing the winning side to stop is a tough task.”

He dismissed European diplomatic efforts to engage with Iran as ineffective, adding: “They haven’t helped. Iran has no interest in talking with Europe. They want to talk with us. Europe can’t do anything about this.”

Regarding the two-week timeline he set for deciding on negotiations and potential U.S. intervention, Trump claimed it is the “maximum” duration and that he might make a final decision sooner. “I’ve given them a timeline. We’ll see how long that timeline will be. But I think two weeks is the maximum,” he said.

This marks Trump’s first direct comment on the timeline that the White House press secretary announced on Thursday local time in a statement as an opportunity for a diplomatic solution. However, Trump noted that he is not considering deploying U.S. ground forces as part of any potential attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The U.S. president also expressed doubts about Israel’s military capability to completely destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, stating: “They really have limited capacity. They might be able to get through some parts, but they can’t go very deep. They don’t have that capacity. We’ll see what happens—maybe it won’t even be necessary.”

Some officials and analysts have also noted that Israel lacks the necessary military capability and bunker-buster bombs to attack Iran’s underground facilities.
