An American media outlet analyzed that, despite Donald Trump’s claims that Sunday’s aggressive attacks ended Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, Iran’s nuclear program is far from over, and with political will, Iran is ultimately capable of repairing and rebuilding its nuclear enrichment facilities.

According to the Persian edition of ISNA, the U.S. government, on the orders of President Donald Trump, targeted Iran’s underground nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan with bunker-buster bombs at dawn on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Shortly after these aggressive attacks, Trump claimed in a press conference that Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and capabilities had been “completely destroyed,” while threatening: “If that’s not the case, our next attacks will be far more severe and easier.”

The CNN website, in an analysis, wrote that despite Trump’s exaggerated claims that the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities were a “stunning military success” and caused their “complete destruction,” Western military sources told the network it is “still too early to assess the damage inflicted by over 12 U.S. bunker-buster bombs and Tomahawk cruise missiles used in the attack on Iran’s main nuclear facilities.”

The network analyzed: “Even if Trump’s descriptions prove accurate, destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities does not mean the end of Iran’s nuclear program, which is still far from over.”

CNN considers recent Iranian officials’ calls for withdrawing from the NPT as one of the dire consequences of the U.S. attacks on Iran. The network stated that the core issue is Iran’s “nuclear capacity,” which remains intact despite the U.S. attacks.

It emphasized: “If there is political will in Iran, its nuclear enrichment facilities can still be repaired or rebuilt, while Iran’s technical expertise remains intact despite Israel’s assassination of several Iranian nuclear scientists.”

According to CNN, IAEA officials have said they are unaware of the location of Iran’s enriched nuclear material stockpiles. Iran has announced that the three facilities targeted by the U.S.—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—were evacuated before the attack, and CNN writes: “The likelihood has increased that some or all of these materials are stored elsewhere. This is a dangerous nuclear uncertainty that Trump seemingly did not anticipate.”

A European diplomat told CNN, referring to brief meetings between European and Iranian officials in Geneva on Friday: “Our negotiations with Iran were a real window of opportunity. But the Americans have now closed that window.”
