In response to a Nournews reporter’s question about Iran’s position amid some efforts to replace ceasefire negotiations with nuclear talks, the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry said: “I don’t know where this question originated from, but what matters is that our focus is on defense.”

Nournews: Esmaeil Baqaei added: “As long as there is aggression against Iran and the aggressors continue their violations, we think of nothing but defending the country.”

According to Baqaei, the diplomatic corps is unquestionably aligned with the armed forces—both in articulating positions and in rallying international support to halt the aggression.

He began today’s Monday session by stating: “Today marks the eleventh day of the Iranian national response to attacks by the Zionist regime and the second day of standing firm against U.S. aggression on Iran’s peaceful facilities—Natanz, Fordow, and Esfahan.”

Reciting verses from Dehkhoda, he said: “Today, all of us are full of pride and anger for our country and the aggression inflicted upon it.”

Baqaei continued: “While Iranians are committed to peace and international principles, they will under no circumstances back down in defending their homeland and dignity.”

The Zionist regime’s aggression against Iran took place in coordination with the United States

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that there is no doubt this aggression was coordinated with—and supported by—the United States.

The American aggression against Iran is unjustifiable

Referring to the U.S. attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, Baqaei said: “No one at any level of the international community can justify these aggressions.”

The Iranian nation will not allow their country to become a playground for these criminals

He emphasized: “Undoubtedly, the dignity of the Iranian nation will not allow Iran to become a target for these criminals, and they will resolutely stand against this blatant aggression.”

Baqaei also commemorated the recent martyrs of the Zionist regime’s attacks on Iran.

Today, all our focus is on defending Iran’s core

Asked about possible negotiations after the war and any change in Iran’s strategic approach, he stressed: “Today, our full attention and all our efforts are concentrated on defending Iran’s foundations, and we won’t let any peripheral issue distract us from this.”

History and the world will not forget that Iran was attacked during a diplomatic process

He added: “Of course, we must learn from all our experiences. History and the world will not forget that Iran was attacked in the midst of a diplomatic process.”

Araghchi’s trip to Russia is very important

Regarding the foreign minister’s travel to Russia, he explained that Russia—being a member of the JCPOA and a strategic partner of Iran—makes this trip very important. He noted that Iran is also consulting with other countries, even those without diplomatic relations, regarding these aggressions and attacks.

An attack on Iran is an attack on international law and norms

He said: “These attacks are not the work of one or two actors—they violate Iran and international law and norms. Every country must, according to its position and weight, take necessary action against this blatant injustice.”

He also criticized U.S. officials describing the attack on Iran as a “beautiful operation,” calling such language a new—and unacceptable—norm in international relations and law. “They call this blatant aggression ‘beautiful’—an obvious breach,” he said, “and this aggression will remain a stain on America’s forehead forever.”

Decisions on how we defend will be made by the proper authorities

Regarding Iran’s possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to Zionist and U.S. aggression, Baqaei said: “All our focus is, with full capacity, on defending Iran’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and the interests of the Iranian people.” He added that decisions on “how to defend, what tools to use, and how to deter the enemy” are up to the competent authorities. “Our armed forces know well how to defend the country’s foundations, and this matter is being addressed at the level of the armed forces.”
