Barak Ravid, an Axios reporter, wrote in a post on the social media platform X: “An informed source stated that senior diplomats from the European troika and Iran will meet next week for a potential nuclear agreement.”
He further noted that the meeting is likely to take place in Vienna or Geneva and stated that Iran is expected to send Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, and Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, to the negotiations.
Laurence Norman, a Wall Street Journal reporter, wrote minutes ago in a post on X: “According to sources, in a call last night between the foreign ministers of the three European countries and Kaja Kallas (EU foreign policy chief) with Seyed Abbas Araghchi (Iran’s Foreign Minister), the issue of extending the deadline for activating the snapback mechanism under the nuclear program was raised. In this proposal, Iran was asked to resume nuclear talks with the United States and European countries and restart cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Proposals were also made regarding the limitation of enriched uranium stockpiles, though no specific details were provided. Sources say precise conditions need to be worked out.”
He added: “The proposed suggestion is a one-time extension of the snapback mechanism deadline. The current deadline extends until October, but if Iran—and its allies in the Security Council, namely Russia and China—agree, there is a possibility of further extension.”
