Esmaeil Baghaei, Spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, in his weekly press briefing, referred to the peace agreement in the Caucasus and said:“We believe the peace agreement can be a turning point for consolidating peace and stability in the South Caucasus. We have good relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, and we have been in talks with Armenia for a long time. The peace agreement, in itself, is not a new subject. We have urged both parties to achieve peace. Today or tomorrow, high-level consultations will be held between Iranian and Armenian officials.”

Regarding negotiations between Iran and the European side, Baghaei stated:“We cannot say that the talks have been stopped. We have not yet reached an agreement on the time and place of the negotiations, but this does not mean the talks have been halted.”

Baghaei added that Iran’s President will speak with the Armenian Prime Minister today.

On Ali Larijani’s trip to Iraq and Lebanon as the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Baghaei stated: “This visit is a continuation of Iran’s consultations with neighboring countries. The policy of good neighborliness, and the deepening and enhancement of cooperation with our neighbors, has always been a fundamental principle of Iran’s foreign policy, which we pursue at various levels.”

He added that one of the key achievements of the trip was the finalization of a security agreement between the two countries. “The content of the document had been prepared earlier, and its agenda had been approved during a relevant session. It is expected that the document will be signed by officials of both countries,” he said.

Asked whether Norway would host the next round of negotiations, Baghaei replied “No, that has not been confirmed yet.” Regarding the visit of Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to Iran, Baghaei said: “The talks were scheduled to begin today, with a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister on the agenda. The negotiations have been technical and complex.”

Baghaei emphasized that the nuclear issue is handled under the supervision and in coordination with the Supreme National Security Council.
