In a formal letter addressed to the newspaper’s editors, the embassy condemned the editorial as a “dangerous and irresponsible glorification of criminal aggression,” highlighting its blatant disregard for international law and human safety.
In the letter, shared with the IRNA, the embassy articulated its anger, disgust, and disbelief regarding the portrayal of the military strike as a significant success for US President Donald Trump. The embassy emphasized that the September 5, 2025, editorial recognized a military action against protected nuclear infrastructure as an accomplishment, calling this judgment a catastrophic misrepresentation.
The embassy outlined three key points: First, Iran, as a committed member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), has consistently pursued peaceful nuclear activities under stringent oversight by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), with no evidence of deviation towards weaponization. Second, the recent military action constituted a unilateral and aggressive violation of the United Nations Charter and fundamental principles of international law. Third, legitimizing such an act, particularly by Trump, is seen as a “cowardly immorality,” as the attack was carried out remotely, endangering countless civilians.
The Iranian diplomatic mission urged Kristi Dagbladet daily to apologize formally and to present Iran’s perspective prominently to uphold journalistic dignity and fairness.
