The Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology (IranDoc) has officially become a member of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO).

Avash News – The Iranian chapter of ISKO was established in 2011 through the efforts of Dr. Rahmatollah Fattahi, a prominent scholar in the field of communication, and remained active until 2019. However, its activities were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapter has now resumed its operations with the support of IranDoc.

Iranian members of ISKO were required to renew their individual memberships in order to continue their participation. Out of 20 former members, 11 have rejoined the international society.
With IranDoc’s official admission to ISKO as an organizational member, the Iranian chapter has been reactivated.

The Iranian branch of ISKO plans to hold its first national conference on information and knowledge organization next autumn.
ISKO organizes international conferences every two years, while national and regional conferences are held in even-numbered years.
