The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Russia, held a telephone conversation today (Wednesday) at the initiative of the Iranian side.
The statement noted: The two countries’ foreign ministers welcomed the agreement reached between Kabul and Islamabad, mediated by Qatari and Turkish officials, concerning a mutual ceasefire, as well as a ceasefire along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. They also called for the continuation of dialogue between the two friendly countries to resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means in the interest of ensuring regional stability and security.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov and Araghchi also exchanged views on developments in West Asia, primarily the Palestinian-Israeli peace process and its consideration by the UN Security Council, and the situation/developments in the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The ministers also exchanged views on certain aspects of bilateral relations.
Both sides affirmed their mutual commitment to the unconditional implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and Iran, which entered into force on October 2.
