Iran’s Foreign Minister has announced that no contact has been made between him and Steve Witkoff in recent days and that Iran has not requested negotiations.

Avash News: Addressing the press on Wednesday, Araghchi said that some countries are trying to act as mediators and that Iran is in contact with them.
Araghchi emphasized that if the United States seeks to negotiate, it cannot happen in a threatening atmosphere. “Negotiation has its own manner and must be done on an equal footing and with mutual respect,” he said.

Araghchi continued that Iran is in contact with mediators who are making efforts with good intentions. However, the decision is yet to be made in this regard, and for now no request has been sent by Iran.

Asked about the coincidence of talks about negotiation and military buildup near Iran by the United States, Araghchi said that these issues have always coexisted on the international stage; namely, diplomacy and threat. Military issues and diplomacy have always been present and pursued, and each has its own path. He said Iran’s stance is exactly the same: exercising diplomacy through military threats cannot be fruitful or useful. “If they want negotiations to take shape, they must put aside threats, excesses, and the presentation of illogical issues.”

Araghchi said that it is not acceptable for one side to try to reach its goals through force.

Araghchi also said that Iran is in continuous contact with the UAE and Saudi Arabia, as well as Qatar. He noted that he believes there is a consensus in the region that any military intervention would destabilize the entire region, particularly because of the characteristics of the U.S. presence in the region.

“The entire region is against military threats, and all agree that instability could lead to major challenges in the region,” he said.

The top official said that negotiation and threats cannot coexist and reiterated that Iran’s stance is clear. He also said that Iran does not yet have any plan to meet with Rafael Grossi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
