In advance of Iran–US negotiations, a broad environment of psychological warfare and media narratives against Iran has been formed with the aim of influencing the negotiation process, said Reza Nasri, an international lawyer and political analyst.

Avash News: Nasri said that the ruling team in the U.S. — unlike previous governments — has engaged in unconventional practices regarding its approach, its stability in its positions, and the instruments it employs, all of which have made diplomacy difficult; however, these should not be obstacles to its continuation.

“The U.S. aims to exert pressure on Iran by building up military forces and using threats and coercion,” Nasri said, adding that these actions are mainly assessed within the framework of psychological warfare and have even faced opposition from regional countries.

Nasri said that despite the complexity of the situation, the conditions are not such that the negotiating team cannot overcome or manage them.

He said the main goal for Iran is to reduce tensions through diplomatic efforts, but the other side is changing its positions, which makes its goals unclear.

He noted that Iran — while emphasizing that it has no intention of building nuclear weapons — has entered the negotiations.
