Iran’s third match of the 2026 World Cup group stage has ended in a 1–1 draw against Egypt, keeping the national team unbeaten with three consecutive draws and still in contention for qualification.
Iran’s goal was scored by Ramin Rezaeian, the national team’s right-back, in the 19th minute, marking his third strike across World Cup editions and placing him alone at the top of Iran’s all-time scoring chart in the tournament.
The defender had previously scored against Wales at the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first Iranian player ever to score in two different editions.
He was also named Player of the Match by FIFA at the end of today’s game, adding to his standout performance earlier in the tournament.
