Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that any speculation about the details of the negotiations—particularly regarding a temporary deal—has no basis, referring to ongoing speculation about the content of Iran–U.S. talks.

Avash News: During his weekly briefing, Esmaeil Baqaei said there is much speculation about how the negotiations will proceed and what their content will be, but neither those speculations nor the details of the talks, including a temporary agreement, have been confirmed, and such claims are baseless.

The official added that the formulation of any negotiating text is a joint effort. “Our approach regarding the lifting of U.S. sanctions and nuclear issues is transparent, and we are aware of the American side’s approach,” he said.

Baqaei noted that if both sides have good intentions, there can be hope for positive outcomes from the negotiations.

Asked about remarks by Steve Witkoff, claiming Iran is a week away from making a nuclear bomb and implicitly calling for Iran’s capitulation, Baqaei said this is not the first time Iran has faced contradictory viewpoints. “We leave it to the wise people of Iran to judge. No negotiation that aims to force the other side will produce results,” he said.

He reiterated that Iran is serious and determined to pursue the diplomatic path because it is confident in the validity of its position. “We believe our stance is logical and consistent with international law,” he said.

Asked whether there is any inconsistency between Iran’s Foreign Ministry and the Supreme National Security Council regarding Iran’s nuclear decisions, Baqaei said that they act based on decisions taken by the SNSC concerning the nuclear issue.

Baqaei said that Iranians’ behavior and actions have nothing to do with capitulation. Asked who supports them amid reports of a buildup of US assets near Iran, Baqaei said that they trust in the righteousness of their position, rooted in Iran’s history and civilization. He noted that “Iranians have called for dignity, respect, and autonomy over the past 48 years.”

He added that speaking about capitulation is contradictory to international principles and laws.

The official said that the Americans’ lack of knowledge about Iran’s approach stems from their lack of understanding of issues that are considered matters of dignity and national interest for Iranians. “They cannot ignore Iran’s national and security concerns,” he said, adding that Iran frustrates those who pursue excessive demands. “Not just the US, but anyone who sees themselves as superior. If you want to judge and view Iran through your own lens, you cannot reach a result.”

Baqaei said that Iranians are closely following the negotiations. “They know that we are ready to continue negotiations for days and weeks. A fruitful negotiation is one that yields results.”
The senior official said that the lifting of sanctions is the main component of the negotiations, which must be implemented and made operational by the US. In turn, Iran must also take transparent measures to ensure that its nuclear program does not move toward militarization or weaponization.
