Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has departed for Switzerland, where the second round of nuclear and sanctions removal talks with the United States are scheduled to take place.

Araghchi, at the head of a diplomatic and specialized delegation, left Tehran for Geneva on Sunday night, after the first round of indirect talks took place in Oman last week.

Some other diplomatic consultations are also on the agenda of Araghchi’s mission, including the Swiss Foreign Minister, the Omani Foreign Minister, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Both Iran and the United States had described the first round of indirect talks in Muscat as a “good start”, as the two delegations exchanged views on the framework of negotiations and proposals through the Omani mediator.
