Araghchi, accompanied by a high-ranking diplomatic and specialized delegation, landed in Geneva late on Sunday night.
He was welcomed upon arrival by Wolfgang Brülhart, Special Representative of the Swiss Foreign Minister for the Middle East and North Africa.
According to the announced plan, the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the US will be held on Tuesday and will be mediated again by Oman. The first round was held in Muscat last week, which was described by the two sides as a “good start”.
During the trip, the top diplomat is also scheduled to meet with his Swiss and Omani counterparts, as well as the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and several other international officials based in Switzerland.
Apart from the talks with the US, a speech at the United Nations’ Conference on Disarmament is also among Araghchi’s plans in Geneva.
