Mohammad Javad Zarif, former foreign minister of Iran and CEO of the Paiab Think Tank, reacted to the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in a post on his X account:

Iran is mourning the martyrdom of one of the bravest leaders in its proud history, alongside 149 innocent little girls from Minab, at the hands of brutal criminals who—after the massacre and genocide of innocents in Gaza and their failed 12-day aggression against proud Iran—two months ago plunged the Iranian nation into grief for the blossoming lives cut short in this land through their empty, spiteful delusions.
We brave Iranians, who throughout several thousand years of our noble civilization have sent invaders great and small to the dustbin of history while standing firm and dignified ourselves, will today as well—despite all grievances—teach foreign aggressors against this sacred land an unforgettable lesson in steadfastness and love of peace.
God’s blessings be upon him, who despite all threats, insisted on living among the people he loved—whose honor and dignity were always his greatest concern—and who attained his long-cherished wish in his office, not in a shelter, and now rests in the boundless mercy of the Almighty. And blessings upon the proud mourners of Iran.
