Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has issued a strong condemnation against US military aggression targeting areas in Bandar Abbas in the early hours of May 28.

Baqaei said on Thursday that these actions constitute a “gross violation of international law and the United Nations Charter,” and called upon the UN Security Council to uphold its “legal responsibility” and hold the American aggressors accountable.

The spokesperson highlighted the continuous violation of the ceasefire agreed upon on April 9 by the United States, citing recent attacks on commercial shipping in the Persian Gulf and air strikes on southern Iran.

Baqaei affirmed Iran’s resolve to “take all necessary measures to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity” in line with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Furthermore, Baqaei denounced threats and rhetoric from American officials directed at Iran and other regional nations.

He also expressed solidarity with Muscat, condemning US officials’ threats to destroy Oman, which is a UN member state that has consistently played a “constructive, effective, and responsible role in regional peace and security” and has served as a mediator in diplomatic processes.

US President has threatened to “blow up” Oman if it does not keep the Strait of Hormuz open.

Baqaei added that such threats violate the fundamental principle prohibiting the threat or use of force and signal a dangerous trend towards the “normalization of lawlessness and bullying in international relations.”
