Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has told his Omani counterpart that Iran would welcome any serious efforts to de-escalation tensions and restore stability to the region, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The ministry said in a statement that Araghchi had communicated Tehran’s position in a phone conversation with Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

In an interview with NBC news earlier, Araghchi said that he had told his counterparts from Persian Gulf countries that Iran did not intend to attack them, but was targeting US bases in those countries.

He said Iran does not seek war and tension, but the aggression must stop first before any effort at de-escalation.
