During a Sunday night phone call with the Iraqi foreign minister, Araghchi briefed his Iraqi counterpart on recent developments related to Iran–US nuclear talks.
Hussein welcomed the explanations, reiterated Iraq’s support for the ongoing diplomatic process, and expressed hope that the talks would yield positive outcomes for Iran and contribute to regional peace and stability.
In a separate phone conversation, Araghchi also spoke with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. The two ministers discussed regional developments and reviewed the latest status of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States.
Both sides stressed the importance of continued consultations and cooperation to advance diplomacy within the framework of regional collaboration.
Iran and the US have held two rounds of talks this month on the Iranian nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions on the Islamic Republic. The talks, held in Oman on February 6 and in Switzerland on February 17, are the first such discussions since the 12-day war Israel launched in June last year, which the US joined later.
