AVASH NEWS: The ISSF’s August 2026 rankings show Rostamian moving up seven positions from 12th to fifth following her strong performance at the World Cup competition held in Hangzhou, China.
Rostamian earned a bronze medal in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the Hangzhou World Cup, which featured many of the world’s leading shooters. The achievement marked the fourth World Cup medal of her career.
In the final standings of the competition, a Chinese athlete took the gold medal, while an Indian shooter finished second and Rostamian secured third place.
The latest rankings also reflected progress by several other Iranian shooters. Sharmineh Chehel-Amirani climbed 35 places to rank 33rd in the women’s 10-meter rifle event. In the men’s 10-meter air pistol category, Vahid Golkhandan moved up one position to 15th, while Olympic champion Javad Foroughi improved by five places to 66th.
The ISSF world rankings are updated monthly and are based on athletes’ performances over the previous 12 months. Results achieved in major ISSF competitions play a key role in determining shooters’ positions on the global list.
