Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized that Iran’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region remains strong.

In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Araghchi said, “Delighted to welcome Field Marshal Munir to Iran.

He expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s gracious hosting of Iran-US talks, emphasizing that “it reflects our deep and great bilateral relationship.”

He added, “Our commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region remains strong—and shared.”

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, at the head of a high-ranking political-security delegation, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon, with Iran-US negotiations on the focus of his trip to the Islamic Republic.

In an attempt to ease hostilities, a two-week ceasefire was brokered on April 8, allowing for mediated negotiations in Islamabad. Iran presented a ten-point plan during those discussions, which called for the withdrawal of US troops, the lifting of sanctions, and sovereignty over the key Strait of Hormuz.

Despite engaging in 21 hours of intense talks with US negotiators in Pakistan, the Iranian delegation returned to Tehran without reaching an agreement, citing a lack of trust and excessive demands by the US.
