Iran’s Taekwondo Team Bags 5 Gold Medals at the Asian Championships

On the final day of the 27th Asian Taekwondo Championships and the qualification event for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, competitions were held today in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in the men’s -68 kg and -80 kg categories, as well as the women’s -57 kg and -67 kg divisions.

Avash News: At the end of today’s matches, Nahid Kiani, captain of Iran’s women’s national taekwondo team, secured the only gold medal for the Iranian women’s squad, while Yalda Alinejad claimed a bronze medal.

In the men’s division, Amir-Reza Sadeqian won a bronze medal, while Amir-Abbas Rahnama and Mohammad-Hassan Palang-Afkan were eliminated.

Nahid Kiani, the Paris Olympic silver medalist and former world champion, faced Uzbekistan’s Medina Mirabzolova — the World Universiade bronze medalist — in the final of the women’s -57 kg category. Kiani dominated the match in two straight rounds to capture her second gold medal at the Asian Championships. She had previously won one silver and two bronze medals in the tournament’s history.

Overall, Iran’s national taekwondo team won five gold medals through Arian Salimi, Abolfazl Zandi, Amirsina Bakhtiari, Mehdi Hajimousaei, and Nahid Kiani.
Yasin Valinejad earned a silver medal, while Yalda Alinejad and Amir-Reza Sadeqian each took bronze medals.

The 27th Asian Taekwondo Championships began last Thursday and concluded today, with athletes from 31 countries participating in the event.
