These endangered animals were brought to the island about 60 years ago to be artificially bred in order to protect them from extinction.
Their population multiplied over the next 55 years. Four years ago, some of them were relocated to Bushehr Province to help manage the gazelle population.
Kharg Island is Iran’s third or fourth habitat for the species. Therefore, conflict and bombings will also endanger their lives.
About two weeks ago, Israel and the U.S. launched a war against Iran, and since then, they have bombed many civilian areas, killing more than 1,300 Iranians.
