Russia’s representative in Vienna has announced a trilateral meeting among Russia, China, and Iran on the eve of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Avash News: Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to international organizations in Vienna, said in a message on his Telegram channel that a trilateral meeting of diplomatic delegations from Iran, China, and Russia will be held in the Austrian capital.

Ulyanov wrote: “The March meeting of the Board of Governors is approaching, and difficult discussions on Iran will take place. In this context, we will hold another trilateral meeting with representatives of Iran and China based in Vienna.”

He said that the parties have reached an agreement on joint measures ahead of the meeting.

The announcement followed reports on holding indirect Iran–US negotiations in Geneva.

In this regard, the spokesperson for Switzerland’s foreign ministry announced his country’s readiness to “facilitate the dialogue” between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman. The two sides held another round of talks in Muscat on February 6.

The outcomes of the negotiations were described as “positive” by Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi.

Ulyanov said that representatives of the European Union are eager to be part of the negotiations, but avoid acknowledging that the current situation stems from fundamental mistakes by the EU and that they have failed to learn from their past errors.
