Russia’s Foreign Minister has announced that Russia is ready to play a mediator between Iran and the United States in order to reduce tensions, emphasizing the key role of Moscow in the JCPOA.

Avash News: Sergei Lavrov has announced Russia’s readiness to mediate between Iran and the U.S. to reduce tensions among Iran, the U.S., and Israel. He has also said that the hidden objective of Washington is to control the flow of oil and Iran’s strategic situation.

Lavrov said that “less than 10 years ago, Russia had a key role in achieving an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, including the transfer of enriched surplus uranium to Russia, and we are now ready to act similarly.”

Lavrov added that Russia would be happy if it could help prevent the intensification of tensions, just like what happened in the summer of 2025, when Iran’s nuclear facilities, which were under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, were bombed.

He added that, meanwhile, the IAEA has not issued any statement about this blatant violation of its charter and the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Lavrov, pointing to rhetoric by Trump against Iran and his threats, said that “we hope that wisdom and caution will prevail.”
