AVASH NEWS: According to The Hormuz Letter and several active accounts on X, the United Arab Emirates has released billions of dollars in Iranian assets frozen in banks in the country, with part of these assets, including 1.5 tons of gold, allegedly transferred to Iran on August 11 and 12.
According to these claims, a Boeing 737 operated by a state-owned company called Royal Jet, registered as A6-RJA, flew from Abu Dhabi to Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport and Karaj’s Payam Airport during this period before returning to the UAE after a brief stop.
The aircraft’s first flight also attracted media attention. The A6-RJA, operating under flight number ROJ009, arrived in Tehran from Abu Dhabi. The aircraft, which has a special VIP cabin and limited seating capacity, is reportedly used to transport senior Emirati officials. However, no official source has so far confirmed that any officials were on board.
The timing of the flight, coinciding with heightened regional tensions, Abu Dhabi’s recent accusation that Iran had attacked an Emirati oil tanker, the visit of Pakistan’s interior minister to Tehran, and new developments in the structure of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council have fueled speculation about the possibility of secret messages being exchanged or efforts being made to de-escalate tensions between Tehran and Abu Dhabi.
Now, some media outlets have put forward another narrative, claiming that the flight’s primary mission was not to transport political officials but to transfer Iran’s frozen assets, including gold. However, neither Iranian nor Emirati officials have confirmed this account.
Earlier, in June, Reuters reported on the possibility of the release of $10–20 billion in Iranian assets held in the UAE, claiming that more than $3 billion had already been made available to Tehran during the U.S. war against Iran.
