The Iranian Foreign Minister has highlighted the ongoing drought in the Southwest Asian region and emphasized that water-related issues can serve as a basis for cooperation with neighboring countries.

During a visit to a water management and monitoring facility in the northeastern city of Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, Abbas Araghchi underscored the importance of collective action in addressing the water shortage crisis.

Located in northeastern Iran, Khorasan Razavi Province shares a long border with Afghanistan.

The climate outlook for Southwest Asia indicates persistent drought conditions, Araghchi stated.

“By effective management of both water supply and water consumption, this challenge can be turned into an opportunity for collaboration with our neighbors.”
