Iran’s Foreign Minister has described negotiations with Washington as “a good beginning,” saying there is still a long way to go to build trust.

Avash News: In an interview with the Al Jazeera network, Abbas Araghchi said that zero enrichment is outside the negotiation framework.

“Enrichment is our definitive right and must continue. They could not destroy our capabilities even by bombing us,” he said.
He, however, said that, “We are ready to achieve an ensuring deal on enrichment.”

Iran’s senior official said that negotiations on Iran’s missiles are not possible, neither now nor in the future.

“The process of negotiations must be free from any threats and pressure, and we hope to see such an approach in the U.S. policy,” he said.
“We must build trust so that real negotiations can be held to reach a just outcome based on mutual interests,” he added.

Araghchi said that Washington returned to negotiations after the previous attacks.

The official emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program can only be resolved through negotiations.
He noted that Iran’s level of uranium enrichment depends on the country’s needs and that enriched uranium will not be taken out of the country.

War is always likely

Araghchi said that war is always likely, and that Iran is prepared for it and for preventing it.

Regarding the next round of negotiations, Araghchi said that the time for the talks has not yet been set, but that both Iran and Washington believe the negotiations must take place soon.
“The negotiations were indirect, but an opportunity arose to shake hands with the American negotiating team,” Araghchi said.

The Iranian official said that an attack on U.S. soil is impossible, and that if Washington attacks Iran, Iran will attack U.S. bases in the region.
“We do not attack neighboring countries, but we attack American bases stationed there. These are two different things,” Araghchi concluded.
