Avash News: He spoke with India Today ahead of his trip to Geneva on Wednesday to take part in the third round of Iran–US indirect negotiations set for Thursday.
He said that the negotiations made some progress last time and that they were able to reach some kind of understanding.
“I think, based on those understandings, we can build something in the form of a deal. I think a fair, balanced, and equitable deal is achievable, and we can do it,” Araghchi said.
Araghchi noted that Iran’s armed forces are prepared to do their job and that “we know how to defend ourselves.” The top official said that Iranians learned much from the last war, so they are more prepared.
“The aim is to prevent war; when you are prepared for war, you can prevent it; otherwise, you are inviting it into your home,” the top official said.
Araghchi emphasized that “we are fully prepared not because we want a war but because we want to prevent a war.”
Describing himself as a man of diplomacy, Araghchi said that he prefers to do his own job, adding that he thinks the path they are taking is the best possible way to solve the problem.
Araghchi said that there is no military option for Iran’s nuclear program.
“If there is any concern, any question, or ambiguity, we are ready to address and answer questions and remove concerns, but we are not ready to give up our right to the peaceful use of nuclear technology. This is what we demand,” Araghchi said.
Araghchi said that there is a possibility of reaching an agreed solution that is fair and balanced.
