Bahreini made the remarks at a high-level joint meeting entitled “Role of the Manifesto of Cyrus the Great in the Formation of Modern Human Rights and Freedoms”, jointly organized by the Permanent Missions of Tajikistan and Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) on Wednesday.
Pointing to the shared human heritage of the Cyrus Cylinder, rooted in respect, tolerance, and human dignity, Bahreini emphasized that in the face of contemporary challenges, drawing on this heritage demonstrates that the pursuit of justice and dignity is not an emerging phenomenon, but rather a deeply rooted ideal that has connected people across history and diverse cultures.
The envoy emphasized that the ideals of the Cyrus Cylinder can serve as a unifying narrative to strengthen the universality of human rights, stressing respect for diversity and coexistence in an increasingly polarized world.
He described the Cyrus Cylinder as more than a historical document, calling it a symbol of shared human ideals and transnational values that hold significance for international audiences.
Referring to the developments of the past two months and the resistance of the Iranian people against aggression, Bahreini described these as a clear manifestation of the enduring influence of the Cyrus Cylinder on the national commitment to sovereignty and identity.
