Avash News: Speaking on Friday at a joint meeting with border management and road construction officials in West Azarbaijan Province, Pezeshkian said many of the provinces’ long-standing problems stemmed from the fact that decision-makers had lacked an accurate understanding of each region’s challenges and potential, resulting in solutions that failed to reflect local realities.
He added that expanding governors’ authority and strengthening their decision-making powers would pave the way for a more realistic approach to provincial issues and facilitate the adoption of executive decisions tailored to the specific conditions of each province. Such a move, he said, could accelerate both development and the resolution of local challenges.
Elsewhere in his remarks, referring to what he described as recent positive developments on the international economic front, the president stressed that any achievements in this area would be directed toward strengthening the country’s infrastructure and financing construction and development projects.
Emphasizing the importance of expanding Iran’s railway network, Pezeshkian called for accelerating the implementation of transit railway projects. He said that, through expert prioritization and careful planning, rail transport capacity—particularly in West Azarbaijan Province, given its strategic and geopolitical location—should be further enhanced so that the province can play a more effective role in international trade and transit.
The president also underscored the need to strike a balance between development goals and available resources, warning that pursuing development without considering existing capacities and resources could create serious problems for the country in the future. He said development should be pursued through a comprehensive and sustainable approach rather than a one-dimensional perspective.
Concluding his remarks, Pezeshkian stressed the need to expedite the completion of the Urmia–Tabriz expressway, describing it as one of the region’s key public demands. He urged all relevant government agencies to mobilize their resources and capabilities to accelerate the project’s implementation so it can become operational as soon as possible.
