Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Abbas Saleh Shariati has described journalism as a noble profession that assumes a deeper cultural and social mission during times of crisis, in a message marking National Reporter’s Day.

Saleh Shariati extended his greetings to journalists, reporters, photographers, cameramen, editors and all media professionals who dedicate their efforts to public awareness, truth and service to society.

Referring to the past year, he said Iran had experienced major events and difficult challenges, adding that the country’s media faced the important task of conveying Iran’s perspective to the world amid a war waged by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic.

He said the conflict involved not only attacks on territory, homes and lives, but also attempts to distort the truth and shape the narrative surrounding Iran.

According to the minister, Iranian media professionals performed strongly during the difficult period through responsible reporting, timely coverage and careful analysis, helping their accounts of the conflict gain greater attention among audiences and observers.

He described journalists, photographers and cameramen as guardians of truth and collective memory, and honored media workers who lost their lives while serving the public.
