In an op-ed published in the Emirati newspaper The National, Turki Al-Faisal wrote: “In a world governed by fairness, we would have witnessed American B-2 bombers dropping bunker-busting bombs on Dimona and other Israeli nuclear sites, as Israel, in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, possesses nuclear weapons.”
The former head of Saudi Arabia’s intelligence agency emphasized that those who justify the Israeli regime’s attack on Iran by citing Iran’s alleged threats to destroy Israel are ignoring statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has called for the destruction of the Iranian government since 1996.
Al-Faisal wrote: “The hypocrisy of the West in supporting this attack was predictable, just as their longstanding support for Israel’s aggression against Palestine persists, though some countries have recently reduced their backing.”
He continued: “Western sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine stand in stark contrast to their indifference toward Israel’s actions. The rules-based international order the West claimed to uphold has now turned into ruins. We in the Arab world are not indifferent to this. Our principled stance in these conflicts serves as a clear model for countries, leaders, and nations.”
Al-Faisal, who previously served as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Washington, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to attack Iran’s nuclear sites, writing: “A return to diplomacy is still possible. Unlike other Western leaders, Mr. Trump should not pursue double standards.”
The former Saudi intelligence chief stressed that instead of following the war-mongering Netanyahu, Trump should listen to his friends in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council, adding: “I cannot change the double standards, Netanyahu’s genocide, Iran’s destructive record, Palestinian internal divisions, Europe’s weakness, or the contradiction between Trump’s promises of peace and the reality of his war against Iran. But what I can do is follow the decision of my late father, King Faisal, who, after Harry Truman acted against Franklin Roosevelt’s promises and supported the establishment of Israel, refused to visit the U.S. during Truman’s presidency. I, too, will not travel to the U.S. as long as Trump is in power.”
