Iran’s Foreign Minister stated that before resuming negotiations, “we must first ensure that the U.S. will not target us with military attacks during the talks,” emphasizing that the doors of diplomacy will remain open.

In an interview with an American media outlet, responding to last week’s remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump about the possibility of resuming talks with Iran this week, Foreign Minister Araghchi said, “I don’t think negotiations will resume that quickly.” Speaking with a CBS News reporter in Tehran, Araghchi stressed, “Before deciding to re-enter negotiations, we must first be assured that the U.S. will not launch military attacks against us during the talks.”

Araghchi added, “With all these considerations, we still need more time.” However, he emphasized that “the doors of diplomacy will never be closed.”

Addressing Trump’s claim about destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities, Araghchi stated, “No one can eliminate the technology and science of enrichment through bombardment.” He further noted, “If there is a will on our part and a determination to advance this industry again, we can quickly recover damages and make up for lost time.”

He underscored that “Iran’s peaceful nuclear program has become a matter of national pride and honor.” Araghchi also said, “We endured 12 days of war imposed on us, so the people will not easily abandon enrichment.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister reiterated the country’s commitment to defending itself against any military aggression, stating, “We demonstrated our ability to defend ourselves during the war and proved it, and if we face any aggression again, we will continue to do so.”
