Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has emphasized the need for close cooperation between regional countries to foil Israeli conspiracies, saying that the Islamic Republic wants the governments of the West Asia region to be independent and strong.

Larijani issued the call while speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Beirut on Saturday, where he will hold talks with top officials, apart from commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of resistance leaders of Lebanon and Palestine, including Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyid Hashem Safi al-Din.

“Today, in the face of Israeli conspiracies, it is necessary for the regional governments to cooperate closely by putting aside their past differences,” he underlined.

Responding to a question related to the recent remarks by the Hezbollah chief on relations with Saudi Arabia, Larijani commended Sheikh Naim Qassem’s call for turning a new page with Riyadh, saying the fact that Hezbollah wants to put aside its differences with other countries and pursue reconciliation shows the height of its rationality and wisdom, not weakness.

Stating that the Islamic world is facing a common enemy, he said that Sheikh Qassem’s step was right for the comfort of the Lebanese people as Hezbollah is a strong bulwark against Israel.

The top Iranian security official also rejected the US interference in Lebanon, urging officials of the Arab country to act in agreement. “The Lebanese people are wise and do not need guardians, and there is no need for America to consider itself the guardian of Lebanon,” he said.

In response to a question about potential future Israeli attacks on Iran, Larijani said that the Islamic Republic is ready for all situations and will respond harshly to any act of mischief and foolishness of the Tel Aviv regime.
