Pezeshkian said the two countries’ political will, at the presidential level, made it unacceptable for joint projects to move slowly.
“Your presence in Iran and your consultations with our officials reflect the serious determination of both sides to implement agreements, and it is expected that these agreements move from the discussion phase into the operational phase as quickly as possible,” Pezeshkian said.
The Iranian president highlighted extensive areas of potential cooperation, including energy, oil, gas, petrochemicals, industry, trade in essential goods, and the development of transit corridors.
He called for the formation of specialized working groups for each joint project, tasking them with daily follow-up in coordination with the relevant agencies and the two countries’ embassies.
“Iran and Russia are strategic partners and trusted friends, and the pace of project implementation must match the capacities, political will, and standing of both countries,” President Pezeshkian said.
He noted that strengthening ties with Russia had been a consistent priority emphasized by the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and remains a priority under current leadership.
On broader geopolitics, President Pezeshkian said Iran, Russia, and other independent states reject unilateralism and the imposition of will on other nations, arguing that scientific, industrial, and economic cooperation among independent countries can neutralize the effects of sanctions and lay the groundwork for a more just international order.
President Pezeshkian also thanked Russia for sending a high-level delegation to the funeral ceremonies of the martyred Leader, expressing appreciation to the Russian government, President Putin personally, and the Russian parliament and public for their supportive positions toward the Islamic Republic in international forums.
In response, Tsivilyov conveyed warm greetings from President Putin and briefed Pezeshkian on his talks in Tehran with the ministers of oil and energy.
“Our goal is to achieve tangible and practical results from joint cooperation, to demonstrate that Iran and Russia are on the right path toward developing strategic relations,” Tsivilyov said.
The Russian minister said Iran’s independent stance and resistance to external pressure are highly commended in Russia.
“Just as the Islamic Republic of Iran has stood firm against coercion and external pressures, Russia will never submit to policies based on force,” Tsivilyov said.
He also announced the formation of specialized working groups for each of the joint projects, saying Moscow is committed to delivering concrete outcomes.
