FM Araghchi stresses expansion of Iran-Azerbaijan ties

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding comprehensive relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan as part of Tehran’s good-neighborliness policy.

Foreign Minister Araghchi met with Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Mojtaba Damirchilu in Tehran on Sunday to review the latest developments in bilateral relations. During the meeting, the ambassador presented a detailed report on the current state of Iran–Azerbaijan ties following the foreign minister’s recent visit to Baku.

Araghchi referred to his constructive meetings with senior Azerbaijani officials and underlined the need to effectively advance Iran’s good-neighborly approach through sustained cooperation and continuous development of bilateral relations.

He also highlighted the importance of expanding consultations and collaboration in key areas, including economic cooperation, transit and transportation, political dialogue, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Araghchi visited Azerbaijan on December 7, where he met with President Ilham Aliyev and other high-ranking officials. During the visit, the two sides discussed major bilateral issues along with regional developments.
