Iranian president, Pakistani PM discuss regional issues, emphasize peace and diplomacy

President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have discussed the regional issues and emphasized importance of peace and diplomacy.

The remarks were made during a telephone conversation on Thursday, according to the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office. The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, with Sharif underscoring the need for sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement to promote peace, security, and development in the region.

Reflecting the close and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, rooted in shared history, culture, and faith, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintain regular high-level engagements and consultations through bilateral institutional mechanisms, to further strengthen cooperation across the full spectrum of bilateral relations.

Also on Thursday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Pakistani counterpart, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, spoke on the phone, during which Dar expressed concern about the current regional situation and emphasized the priority of diplomacy in resolving the crisis.
During the call with Araghchi, Dar expressed his concern over the evolving regional situation and stressed that dialogue and diplomacy must be prioritized to manage and resolve the crisis.

Both foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days to coordinate on the situation.

Tensions remain high between Iran and the United States amid escalating rhetoric and threats of military action from President Donald Trump. Iran has warned that any strikes on its territory would be considered an act of full-scale war and would be met with a forceful and comprehensive response.
