In response to a question from an IRNA reporter regarding the claim by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that “Iran has missed the opportunity for an agreement several times,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: “Distorting historical facts cannot erase the reality of the U.S.’s repeated breaches of commitment from the public mind.”
Pointing to the United States’ repeated breaches of commitment—including its unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018, the undermining of diplomatic processes, acts of military aggression against Iran during negotiations, and the subsequent violation of the understanding reached on June 18—Baqaei held the US responsible for the prevailing regional insecurity and its economic consequences for both the United States and the world.
He emphasized that shifting blame and making inconsistent statements cannot overshadow the demand of American and global public opinion to hold the perpetrators of the illegal war and the crimes committed accountable.
