Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq in Muscat on Sunday to discuss regional developments.

During the meeting, Araghchi praised Oman for its responsible role in facilitating diplomatic processes and for its prudent stance regarding the war imposed on Iran by the US and the Israeli regime.

He emphasized Iran’s commitment to maintaining friendly relations with Oman and other southern Persian Gulf states.

The top Iranian diplomat reiterated, “The experience gained from the imposed 40-day war against Iran demonstrates that the presence of the US military in regional countries leads only to insecurity and division. It is expected that all regional countries will take a constructive and responsible approach to establish independent collective security mechanisms that are free from US intervention.”

For his part, the Sultan of Oman expressed his condolences for the martyrdom of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as well as for several high-ranking political and defense officials and Iranian citizens who lost their lives during the military aggression against Iran.

He also extended warm greetings to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and President Pezeshkian, emphasizing Oman’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, including through facilitating diplomacy.

He expressed hope for a swift, definitive end to the war and the restoration of stability and security in the region, declaring his country’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance.
