Tabatabaei described the 14-point memorandum as an unprecedented and significant achievement in Iran’s recent history, arguing that it preserves the country’s national interests and rights.
He made the remarks on Tuesday evening during an interview with national television, saying that Iran demonstrated its commitment to the agreement and did not violated its commitments.
The official stressed that the memorandum is not an untouchable document and can be reviewed when necessary.
He said the government considers the understanding beneficial to Iran, the region and the Muslim world, but warned that Tehran would remain committed to it if the other side returned to its obligations.
“If the other side does not return to the memorandum, we will respond in accordance with the circumstances,” he said.
Tabatabaei also called for a realistic assessment of Iran’s circumstances, warning against excessive expectations. He said Iran had endured two wars while maintaining its resilience and national strength.
He also praised President Masoud Pezeshkian, describing him as a practical leader who considers public trust and honesty essential to his administration.
