Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami has called for accelerating the implementation of a cold plasma-based industrial wastewater treatment project, highlighting the technology’s potential to improve wastewater treatment processes and support environmental protection.

Eslami, who also serves as vice president, visited Kaveh Industrial City and Special Economic Zone, near the northern city of Saveh, on Wednesday to inspect the construction of an industrial wastewater treatment plant based on indigenous cold plasma technology.

During the visit, he toured various sections of the project, including the EDR hall, the equalization structure, and the plasma treatment unit, which is designed to process 2,000 cubic meters of industrial wastewater per day. He was briefed on the progress of construction and the latest developments.
Emphasizing the importance of developing advanced technologies for environmental protection and water resource management, Eslami described the project as an important step toward the industrial-scale application of cold plasma technology.

He also pointed to the technology’s significant potential to enhance wastewater treatment quality, stressing the need for expediting the project’s completion to enable the earliest possible deployment of the homegrown, knowledge-based technology.
