An eight-year-old student from Iran’s western Kermanshah province has secured second place at the international poster competition marking World Food Day 2025, a local education official said on Tuesday.

Jahangir Aghaei, public relations chief of the Kermanshah Education Department, told IRNA that Avan Jalilian, a primary school student, ranked second worldwide in the global poster contest organized by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The annual cultural and artistic event is held to coincide with World Food Day and draws wide participation from children and teenagers across the world, aiming to raise awareness about food security, the fight against hunger and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Aghaei said submitted artworks undergo an international judging process, with winners selected and announced at the global level.

He described the achievement as a reflection of the creativity and talent of children from Kermanshah on the international stage. Jalilian studies at Shima Moradi Primary School in Kermanshah.

FAO invited children and teenagers aged 5 to 19 to design posters on themes including access to healthy food for all and ways individuals can improve their diets.
