Speaking to Iranian reporters in New York on Monday, Araghchi said the discussions focused on ideas that Qatar would put forward to the US side, after which Iran would receive Washington’s response.
“Today, we met and held talks with the Qatari mediators again and discussed some ideas that they will raise with the American side, and then the final response of the American side will be conveyed to us,” he said.
Araghchi said one of the main objectives of his trip to New York for the 81st session of the UN General Assembly was to inform the international community about Iran’s position regarding the war and, specifically, the Strait of Hormuz.
“There are conditions, and they have been emphasized by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and these conditions must be implemented for the Strait of Hormuz to be opened,” he said.
The foreign minister said Iran’s seven-point plan has been conveyed to the United States through the Qatari mediator, adding that Tehran is waiting for an official response through the intermediaries.
“Our mission was to inform the American side of these conditions and also to inform all other countries and the international community, so that it would be clear that Iran has a plan in this regard,” Araghchi said, describing the conditions as “completely fair and logical.”
He added that if the US claims it is seeking an agreement or a peaceful solution, “we have presented this solution.”
Araghchi said the latest diplomatic efforts demonstrated that Iran was prepared for diplomacy as well as military confrontation.
“Today, it has become clear to everyone that the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite all the injustices inflicted upon it and the wars imposed on it, has a voice, logic, and solution in the diplomatic arena,” he said.
The foreign minister also said his meetings in New York have shown that Iran was not isolated, contrary to attempts by the US and Israel.
He said officials from several countries expressed appreciation for Iran’s resistance during the US-Israeli war of aggression and their desire to continue economic and political cooperation with Tehran.
“Some foreign ministers explicitly said this in their own words, and it was proven here that Iran is not only not isolated, but is highly respected and receives considerable attention,” Araghchi said.
