Avash News- Zarif, a former foreign minister and head of the Paiab Institute, responded in a post to Trump’s remarks, using the phrase “Commander Bully” instead of the U.S. president’s official title, “Commander-in-Chief.” He criticized Trump for confusing the UN General Assembly with a battlefield for war rhetoric reminiscent of the Stone Age, and responded to what he described as Trump’s insults against the Iranian people.
Zarif wrote:
“‘Commander Bully’ mistook the UN General Assembly for a Stone Age battlefield and threatened to commit the mother of all war crimes by ‘destroying’ a nation.
“President Pezeshkian responded by setting aside his prepared speech to tell the world:
‘Iran is always ready for diplomacy, but never threaten Iranians.’”
