Kerry’s remarks came following aggressive attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Iran has consistently stated that it is not seeking to develop nuclear weapons and that its nuclear activities are peaceful. Moreover, the International Atomic Energy Agency has found no evidence indicating that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapon.
Despite this, on June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked war against Iran by targeting residential areas. After 12 days of fighting, more than 600 Iranians — including women and children — were killed.
