Speaking to Russia’s Sputnik news agency on the sidelines of the World Atomic Week Forum in Moscow on Friday, Eslami emphasized that the United States must demonstrate its readiness for negotiations.
He highlighted Iran’s policy of pursuing balanced and just dialogue, insisting that any party making demands must show a genuine willingness to engage.
Eslami also stated that it is essential that discussions lead to agreements, adding that if they declare from the outset what the outcome must be, then it is not a negotiation.
Addressing the recent US military strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, he questioned how trust could be established if such actions were not condemned.
He noted that these attacks directly relate to Iran’s national security and stressed that the IAEA is legally obligated to denounce them.
Iranians officially informed the IAEA, and they should have acknowledged and condemned these assaults; their failure to do so indicates a lack of trust, he remarked.
Eslami also pointed out that Iran’s parliament has set conditions for resuming cooperation with the IAEA, which must be met for any negotiations to proceed.
The AEOI characterized the US attacks as a violation of international law and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), with President Masoud Pezeshkian labeling them a testament to US deceit regarding its claims of peace and democracy.
